Letzi circular path
How boundaries were marked
The Letzi circular path offers a physical reminder of mediaeval fortifications along the country's border (known as Letzi in Swiss German). It shows how complex buildings were erected by hand, stone by stone, to add to the natural boundaries found within the landscape. The Letzi circular path is a new route on loosely surfaced path. It leads from the visitors' centre up to the Letziturm tower. After a short stretch through the woods, it meets the existing footpath (the Morgarten Trail) along the fortifications, and from there leads back down to the car park at Schornen. This circular path has been financed thanks to generous support from the district of Schwyz.
